I stop here often to pick up a sandwich on my way home from work. My husband and I split one and that is plenty for both of us. It can be a bit slow at the take out counter during rush periods, but it's fast if you're eating in or taking out during off hours. Yesterday, they had homemade knishes. They were fabulous. Even though I bought the Reggie for us to eat for dinner, the knishes looked so good I couldn't resist. I'm heating them up for lunch now. Can't wait....

It was alright. Not bad and not terrific either. The service was great.

Siegel's is a great Jewish deli in Commerce Township. They have a ridiculously large menu that covers hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. The prices are reasonable and the quantity and quality of food is outstanding. The sandwiches are stacked so high, you can't possibly bite into it without taking some meat out first. The service can be a bit slow, and far from friendly and the restaurant itself is nothing to write home about, sort of a hole in the wall. But it is clean and with a Reuben as good as Siegel's, I can overlook that. Siegel's is certainly one of the best deli's in the area.

I came here a few years ago, and although I don't recall the details I do remember not being particularly impressed. Having seen some of the reviews I thought I'd give it another shot for breakfast. Verdict: Maybe lunch is better. I got the greek omelette (tomato, onion, feta). It was overcooked, light on cheese, and the onions were burnt. Not caramelized, but mostly black. Also, it came with toast but no hash browns. $8.50 with OK coffee. Even if the food had been good the value is not.
(2)David S.
The potato latkes are delicious. I ordered the "healthy omelet," which was decent (and enormous), but the latkes were the real treat. Coffee is diner par for the course. Food portions are huge and inexpensive. Typical diner decor, place is loud but comfortable in its way. Overall a great value for surprisingly good food.

Wow one week and we were a bit disappointed, this time. Service was soooooooo slooooooooow! Granted they were busy and only had two people working the floor, but it was ridiculously slow. 15 minutes before someone came to take our order. Mushroom barley was incredibly bland. I couldn't taste any vegetable flavor from the carrots, onion, celery... Light on the salt . 3-4 bites and we put the bowls to the side. We didn't see our waitress again until she dropped off our sandwiches and was off to the next table. Never came back to check food, water...then the real waiting began... Tried to wave waitress down multiple times for check. They don't make eye contact! Finally we asked another server to get our check... Still waited... Waited.. He'll I grew gray while waiting...lol Btw, corned beef w/ chopped liver was very good. Come for the food but have the patience to wait!

Siegel's is a family run deli very close to my home. Great eats for cheap prices. A half of corn beef is plenty, and the lox app, is plenty for one person. I think they should have more bagels on hand for evening customers.
(4)Audrey K.
The owners are extemely rude. Live down the block. Will NEVER go back. Many restaurants in the area where service and food are much better. I will not give them a penny of my money.
(1)Brad G.
Food is good but not consistent. Service is not consistent depending on the woman Mimi and her mood. Carryouts are not properly put together so when you get home everything spills. When you call and complain about things be wrong in the carry out, they are rude and argue with you. Yes its the only deli in the area and they dont have to be nice. Just would appreciate common courtesy. If you enjoy deli food and large quantities, try it. But i can guarantee that you wont be appreciated. I prefer to spend my money where its appreciated. Customer Service is not at Siegals Deli.

Excellent Cornbeef Reuben, Coffee, Mushroom Barley Soup. Great Service and Awesome staff.
(5)Aaron A.
we are done with them. food was cold ( when it should have been hot), pastrami was tough and the service was very slow. problem is this is the third time in three visits we've had bad food and slow service. not going back, ever.
(1)Derek D.
Place has been here a long time and this is my first visit. Came in for the breakfast and added their famous corned beef to my egg whites. Not bad. Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast or lunch especially if you're a fan of traditional deli with Sy Ginsberg corned beef. They only get four stars because when I ask for Frank's red hot, they delivered Tabasco sauce. I don't play that. Not ever. I went raw. The flavor of the corned beef was all I really need on this day. Enjoy.
(4)Katalina G.
The place is never open!!!??? Which I guess that's why there is no hours posted on the page. I consistently go to the Chinese restaurant next door and never see the deli open. The one time I did find it open, I went in and asked for a menu (I had already ordered Chinese) and they had no menu available. I really like deli style sandwiches so it's unfortunate I haven't been able to try this place.
(2)Christina K.
I've lived in this area for 20 years and never been here. I don't how I went this long without trying this place. It was great. I got the lunch special half soup and half corned beef sandwich. But they give us a full sandwich. Of course I couldn't eat the other half because the one half was plenty filling. For $10 a person with tip you can have a great lunch here. Thanks again Siegel's Deli, I will be in again soon.

The apple does, apparently, sometimes fall pretty far from the tree since while both of my parents swear by this place as the best deli on the west side of the Detroit suburbs, I found it a pretty standard diner with some uniquely Jewish deli items. Don't get me wrong. This place has everything that people look for in a deli. The sandwiches are huge. I mean, take home half the sandwich for the next day huge. The corned beef that my father got took up an entire plate. And there's a kosher dill with each. They have brisket and latkes and blintzes and kugel at, mostly, reasonable prices They even have a cheesecake that I got for dessert that was as good as anything I've had out east. And at $2.49, it was about half the price. My problem with this place was their breakfast. It's served all day like a diner and so I expected it to be as tasty as anything a diner could provide. I got a feta omelette and for every bit of generosity they have with their beef, they skimped on the cheese. The eggs were pretty bland and required a lot of pepper to make them decent. The potatoes on the side were a bit better but still not as good as many hash browns elsewhere in the Detroit area. Of course it was probably my mistake to get brunch at a place that specializes in lunch. But to really get my business a deli should be able to pull off both.
(3)Gene G.
I ordered an omelet and it was dry and bland. The place was somewhat busy and could be cleaner. Basically an average diner, nothing special.
(2)Nikki B.
Big fan here! Can't beat their 2 eggs, coffee, hashbrowns and meat for $3.99! I've never been here for lunch or dinner, so I can only comment on breakfast. The staff is always a pleasure and on top of things. The food always comes out right, cooked perfectly. Coffee is tasty. Restuarant is clean.
(5)Georgie K.
This is my favorite deli to come to when visiting from out of town. the food is delicious, reasonably priced and the service is friendly. The y have great sandwiches, smoked fish plates and tuna salads. Everything is usually fresh and excellent.
(4)Paula K.
We tried both the chicken sandwich and corned beef sandwiches. Both were very tasty, with a lot of meat in them and came with two types of pickles, one very tasty and the other, well, not so much. Soup to go costs more than when dining in and the top of the matzo ball soup quart I had was busted so it did not travel well. Luckily it was also pretty much shrink wrapped in saran wrap.. kept it from spilling but not fun to get off the container. Cabbage soup was good. Matzo ball soup was ok but a bit plain. For the 3 sandwiches and a pint plus a quart of soup and some pomegranate juice the bill came to just under $42.00. A bit pricey for what we got but the food was good so we will probably return. We visited on a Saturday around 5:00.* Dining room was a mess so we chose to get the food to go.

Siegal's is AMAZING! What a great find! Just happened to be driving by and looking for a spot to grab some lunch. Mimi was our very attentive server. I had the tuna sandwich and my friend had the turkey sandwich. DELICIOUS and the portions are HUGE! We liked it so much that we returned again before we left town. We both tried the noodle soup -- wonderful! If we lived close to Siegal's, it would become our "Cheers" :)

I absolutely, positively love this place. When the hubs and I moved to the area several years ago, I discovered this little gem. I've since taken my mom, brother as well as friends and they've all fallen in love just as quickly as I did! This place is always hopping, but the food is always served quickly and piping hot! To repeat what other yelpers have noted, the portion sizes are HUGE. I usually order a wrap and a soup and that'll feed me for at least 2, sometimes 3 meals. The corned beef is finger licking good. I tend to order the hot corned beef wrap with swiss and russian dressing or the Seigel salald with ranch. Even though we just ate there about an hour ago, I'm almost tempted to wipe out the leftovers because the thought of my corned beef is so yummy :) I've never experienced any issues with the cleanliness of dishes, but I can say that if you eat out enough, you'll eventually come across a glass with someone elses lipstick on it - I know its happened to me more times than I can count. Unfortunately, it happens and can happen at even the nicest of restaurants, though its always unpleasant when it does happen. If you're in the area, this is a must try in my opinion!
(5)Joe M.
Ate here before my Gluten Free issue. This is a great place for lunch. The food is great if u like deli sandwich's. I had the corned beef. Wow it was big and worth every penny
(4)Bruce F.
I was out on the road and almost passed by this very busy deli. I stopped in for a Corned Beef which was very good. I'm going 4 stars.
(4)Denny M.
Corned Beef w/slaw, Swiss and Thousand Island keeps me coming back even after I saw the owners wife pour soup from a bowl back into the soup warmer (it came off a table:(. )! Good service and the best eye bread in the area! I still can't order soup though!
(4)Jeremy M.
Long wait, always slow service no matter how many customers there are. Food is so so. Maybe I've been spoiled but just go a few miles east towards Oak Park/Southfield and experience much better food and service.
(2)Scott W.
The place was busy and it is kind of loud. The food was Ok. I had the Corned beef hash which was good but not the best I have had. Other dishes were OK as well but again nothing that special. Service was kind of slow this day but the waitress was working hard. They just seemed short on help.
(3)Greg M.
There was really nothing positive about the experience at siegel's. It was not busy yet took someone a good while before handing us menus. The actual waitress waddled over some time later, very abrasive attitude & not personable, the food order was messed up by the kitchen. Then the food itself was weak at best. I would rather eat trash than come back here again. This review was written after finishing the meal and still waiting for a bill.

Over the last couple of months i have renewed my Love affair with the Reuben Sandwich & therefore when i entered Siegels Deli i had only one thought in my mind. Siegels is on Maple road in West Bloomfield, if you use Yelp directions please ignore as they take you to the wrong place. Firstly i ordered Cabbage soup which was full of great heaps of cabbage chunks lots of tomato's & a great vinegary peppery taster that i love. Then came the Reuben, i have to say this sandwich is monstrous I cant fathom how many calories it must be, just huge!!!! Massive amounts of corned beef, great swath of sauer Kraut & a separate plate of fat chunky French Fries, whilst i have a good appetite i just had to surrender & wave the white flag, it was just too big. Next time i will be smart enough to order Soup & Half a sandwich. Despite my aversion to these shear size of Siegels Reuben it was pretty good!!!! In a Barbaric way!
(3)M D.
The best corned beef, better than any other deli we've been to in this area. And that is saying a whole heck of a lot, for a Jewish deli. This is New York quality corned beef, consistently delicious. All their sandwiches are excellent, in fact. It is managed by some very nice people from the former USSR who have blessed us by choosing southeast Michigan to move to. We welcome them, and their selection of Azerbaijani pomegranate juices, and wish them all the best.

I will start out by saying that the food is good at Siegel's, on a scale of 1-10 it's an 8.5. The corned beef looked look that everyone at my table ordered, and the piece I took from my wife's plate was tasty. The fries where more then one person could eat, and the same for the onion rings! I had ordered the pastrami, I'm a pastrami fan from way back and almost always order it. The pastrami was very tasty but a little on the dry side, but not bad! Your plate comes with two pickles one new dill and one old dill. My first move was to get all the old dills, I'm and old dill lover, and the dills here hit the spot!!! No to the reason I only gave 4 stars! I have been to Siegel's before on my trips to Detroit and as I said the food is good and worth the trip, but the place itself is flat no charm. A deli should have a personality to it a feel that you know you are going to get great food like your grandma made! Siegel's is WHITE, BRIGHT WHITE AT THAT! It needs something to make it feel like home when you walk in. I know it is a small space and they try to fit the most people they can, but the deli case is small and it says nothing to me when I look into it! The food is very good so you should try it, they work hard the get it that way! Remember to eat well and to live well, and please no chains!

Siegel's Deli is about a mile away from my home and how lucky I am that this is the case. Im a sucker for a good reuben on toasty sourdough and the reuben here is top notch. Its one of these deli's that give you SO much meat that you have to eat 2 inches of corned beef off the sandwich before you can actually take a bite. Excellent. The cheese blintzes are among the best I've ever had and the hard salami they sell is spectacular. They have a really large menu and you can get just about anything you could imagine but for me, its the reuben and a cheese blintz every time.
(4)K. S.
The food is very good, but he service has been terrible every time I've been there. I usually have to get up and get menus for our table and get up to get our waitress' attention more than once during our meal. The waitress' are very slow at getting around to taking our order and delivering our food. We rarely see her in between. I only go there because of it's location and because some of my family members really like it. The food IS really good as long as you're not in a hurry or super-hungry when you arrive. Your best bet is to sit close to the kitchen so you can get a staff members attention if you need anything. The corned beef is really good and the salads are generous. I've been there several times and I've NEVER had good service. I will likely go there again, but I'm always prepared for bad service and good food. Strange place!
(3)Jeff P.
Best deli I have found in the Detroit area! Was here for Saturday lunch, it was packed, and had no service issues. Love the pastrami and cole slaw.
(4)George H.
I live in Chicago area nowadays, but I grew up in the area and this is the kind of place I miss - we have no honest-to-goodness delis that know how to make a sandwich. I am stuck with the drecks of Subway and Jimmy Johns... I went here today for an early lunch with some friends and the memories came flooding back as the aromas kicked in. I had the corned beef sandwich which was nearly as big as my head, my wife had the corned beef hash (made with chopped pieces of corned beef, not the dog food lookalikes you get in many places), our daughter had the lox 'appetizer' plate. All their dishes are HUGE, makes the already reasonable prices even better when you consider you get two meals for the price of one...
(5)Mike M.
Enjoyed a lunch special with 1/2 Reuben sandwich and a cup (it was really a rather large bowl) of Split Pea soup. Everything came out promptly and the quality was superb. My wife had a dumpling soup and a tuna wrap and was also very satisfied. We will definitely return for more - yummy!
(5)James G.
Service is a little strange for me but the sandwich was amazing loved the pastrami fresh bread and pickles will be back.
(4)Jan P.
I had heard that the corned beef was amazing and was looking forward to this experience - my first thought was OMG - this is one for Robert Irvine - Restaurant Impossible needs to visit this location. There were 3 of us and 2 of the 3 sets of silverware were dirty, the floor under our table was full of crumbs, the carpet was dark and dingy, the cases where the meats were were covered with finger prints, the pictures on the walls were crooked and one was actually coming apart. In addition, there were bugs and food on the floor. ( When I pointed it out to the lady in charge, she said, oh they come in from outside) There is NO WAY I would go back - sorry :(
(2)Luke R.
At first I was so put off by them that I wasn't going to write any review. They truly are stuck up and discriminatory. My wife and I wanted some good sandwiches. I had been to Siegel's once before - the service was abysmal and the sandwich wasn't worth noting. We walked in, there was a couple eating at a booth and One white lady behind the counter on the phone. She was arguing with someone in some language other than English. there Was no one else around and Also no Menu any where to look at. We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited some more. The lady behind the counter was off the phone but she still had her back to us. I do no know if she even realized there were customers waiting. I asked if there was a menu. without looking at us she pushed a paper take out menu over the dirty sticky counter. We looked at the menu and our jaw dropped as we saw prices for Classic Deli sandwiches some over $10 each. It was a shocker. All we Wanted was LUNCH. There were No Lunch Specials anywhere to be seen, No special Boards or signs. The other couple at the booth got up and left and it was just me and my wife and the old lady behind the counter, with her back turned to us not saying a word. My wife asked me in a low voice, how much longer do we have to stand here waiting for the lady. I spoke up, Miss, pardon me miss... I knocked on the dirty sticky nasty counter, Miss, excuse me... She grunted. She turned around and looked at us. No smile not a single look of politeness... only a look of disdain. My wife told me thats it for her, she left to goto the car. I stood there and looked at the togo menu and put it back on the counter and said out loud, "hmm, you lost two customers." the lady looked back at me with a look of she didn't give a rats behind. I turned around and left. Neither me or my wife will ever purposely visit the place. Not only is the customer service Zero stars, but the Menu was overpriced.

My Mom and I went here for lunch, when I ordered a cup of coffee, it had lipstick all over the cup, and I sent it back, and when My Mom was sipping on her cup of coffee, when she got to the bottom of the cup, it had a small cup of someone's half eaten coleslaw inside of her coffee cup... Not only did it make her sick to look at it, but she got very sick afterward from food poisoning.... Needless to say we never went back!!!!
(1)Steven P.
Both the preparation and the service are good if not great, but the selection is *far* from the standard set by Jewish delis in the NYC and Chicago (the Skokie - Buffalo Grove corridor), for example. It's kind of dingy, too. I've tried the Vineyards in Farmington Hills and the Stage in West Bloomfield, and despite better ambience, the menus don't seem much better. I'm hoping to try the Bread Basket in Oak Park soon, but it's quite a schlep.
(3)Rodger W.
A few weeks ago, I went back on a late Sunday afternoon and the reuben was just OK. The cook overgrilled it. He was more interested in getting out on the lake drinking beer, which he expressed to me when he came out of the kitchen to chew the fat with another employee. The potato salad was still awesome.
(3)Edward P.
I never write reviews, but, had to after my HORRIBLE recent experiences here. My wife had to walk out of the place a few months ago because no one acknowledged she even walked in the door. She then talked to a waitress who said "can't you see we are busy?" I decided to go there today just to get some matza ball soup to go. I went during lunch. It was sort of busy, but, nothing out of the ordinary (I worked in the food industry for years) I walked up to the counter and the three waitresses kept walking past me over and over. They didn't even look at me or say "i'll be with you shortly." Nothing. I waited a little more. I ended up leaving. I couldn't believe it. I've never been treated like that. Unfortunately, no matter if the food is good or not, no business that wants people paying for its food should have staff that can't even acknowledge a paying customer.
(1)Neil Y.
Close but no matzo ball!: The greater West Bloomfield area offers a variety of delis to choose from. For starters, I had a bowl of the sweet and sour cabbage soup. It was quite good actually and a huge serving. Eerily similar to Deli Unique's. This was served hot. A great deli will ask you if you want this soup served hot or cold (in the spirit of Eastern European tradition.) My wife and I split a Club Sandwich that was just so-so. The bacon was crumbled as if it were meant to be on salads and they use Miracle Whip instead of mayo. Now I am not a mayo man but it is a must on Clubs and BLTs-no substitute. Still hungry (big appetite) so I ordered an egg white omelet with spinach, broccoli, and cheese. This was my crowning mistake. The spinach and broccoli were obviously frozen and they omelet was obviously cooked on a way too hot grill because the whole deal was dry as a bone and the whites were browned. True to my fashion, I never send an item back in fear of the spitter. The worst part was the cook tried to hide the overcooked omelet by melting white cheese to cover it up. I did mention this to the server and she kindly took 20% off the bill. Although I prefer foresight to hindsight, a fire well put out. My wife had a piece of the sour cream coffee cake which she reports as delicious. OK, the gross part. I wanted a liverwurst sandwich. That's not the gross part. The server reported back to me that they didn't have it. Still not the gross part. She then noted that they have it but that it's moldy. Does anyone check the inventory? The summary: Good soup and dessert. Perhaps stick to the sandwich or just carry out. For far superior deli, drive another 8 minutes east to Deli Unique.
(2)Steven B.
Much better than expected. Excellent turkey pastrami and corned beef. I got a large order for the office and everyone was very happy with their sandwiches. Even the grumpy guy.
(5)Thomas P.
In the 60s - 80s, most of the really good Delis in the Detroit area were generally in the area between 8 and 10 mile road in and around Oak Park however that is changing over the years. There are still some nice delis in this area, however, my wife and I discovered Siegel's Deli on 15 mile rd. in Commerce Township and I must admit it meets or exceeds the competition in all areas. Plenty of seating, plenty of choices, and quite accessable from most of the Northern suburbs. I have not had time to sample the whole menu which might take years however if you like true deli food you won't be disappointed.
(4)Jacob G.
Service is horrible, took 20 minutes just to get us waters. Then the server came over and was rude. Will never come back again.
(1)Jen T.
I had the chicken Caesar wrap. The flavor was good, I just had an issue with the bones still attached to the chicken. My co-workers love the Corned Beef.
(3)Brian B.
Had an omelette that was pretty good. The hash browns were not cooked and closer to raw. Bacon was perfect. The service was below average, hard to get refills. Overall, I give this a three. Not a good or bad place, very close to average.
(3)A H.
I'm comparing price/value/quality with other similar places. Just a few miles away is the Stage Deli. Sure it has a little more atmosphere, but is somewhat ostentatious and pricey, even compared to the Carnegie (NY and Las Vegas), and Katz's (NY). Siegel's is just a down home no frills "Kosher style" deli with good food and very reasonable prices. The service was excellent! Without comparing to other delis, I would still give Siegel's a good to very good.
(5)OJ J.
The corned beef is good waitresses are ok but the young guy that cooks in back thinks he's someone.
(2)Ashley A.
Best Jewish deli in Oakland County, hands down. Breakfast here is fresh and huge (especially their breakfast sausage links). The only thing I order here besides breakfast is the Ruben and their soup, both of which are superior to any other deli in the area and are not overpriced. For $8 you get a Ruben that could feed three people and still have corned beef left over to make some hash at home the next day. I'm not kidding, these sandwiches are BIG. Also they offer lettucewiches, which are their normal sandwiches with lettuce instead of bread. At first I was very hesitant to order this healthy sandwich, but seriously the substitution is just as good as the original.
